Hello, Restoration family! This year has gotten off to a VERY exciting start in children’s ministry. In January, the
children’s department had 14 brand new visitors on Sunday mornings, and 3 for TeamKid on Wednesday evenings!
God is answering our prayers and bringing people!
ARE WE READY? In the book of Joshua, over and over again the Lord tells Joshua, who in turn tells the people,
to consecrate themselves and to be strong and courageous. We must prepare. We must have a plan in place for each situation that arises. We must have workers! The fields are ripe, and I believe that God is going to bring a harvest to us here at Restoration, but we must have enough volunteers to meet the needs of our children.
Some specific areas that you can be praying about, and asking God if He has a place for YOU in children’s ministry:
— We need 2 more Sunday School teachers who would be willing to take our K-2nd grade children. Currently, we meet all together, K-6th grade. However, if we get even a couple more children coming regularly, we will need to split the class.
— We need 3 or 4 more volunteers for Wednesday evenings. Specifically, it would be great if we had a baby nursery available, so that young parents could attend Bible study.
Finally, our sensory room for special needs kids will be ready soon. I am looking for a few dedicated people willing to be trained on how to handle children with Autism and other special needs. These people would be buddies for ONE child once a month, staying with that child in Sunday school and during worship service, so that their parents are able to learn and worship without worry.
Thanks for all of your love and support! Keep the prayers coming!
Children’s Ministry Director
One of the things that most excites me is that one of our regular attendees asked Jesus into their heart! This is, of course, our chief goal, to lead little ones to seek Christ as their Savior, and it’s so very exciting to see the kids asking questions and wanting to learn about who God is!
We had a great time making crafts, and meeting kids and their families at Buckroe Pointe apartments a few weeks ago. I am grateful for the connections that we made and look forward to continuing our relationships with them. Trunk or Treat will be another great opportunity to meet our neighbors and invite them to join us at church!
During November we will focus on Thankfulness for the blessings God has given us as we pack shoeboxes for children all over the world. These little boxes will help spread the gospel to unreached people through the Operation Christmas Child ministry.
Be on the lookout for announcements about an exciting family Christmas event happening on December 8th! As always, there is a place to serve in Children’s Ministry! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!
Hello, church family! Fall is here! School is in full swing, and so are our children’s activities! I am excited about all that God is doing with our children’s ministry right now. We have been averaging about 10-12 children and preschoolers on Wednesday evenings at TeamKid, which has been amazing. The kids are hearing the Word of God every week and learning about missionaries and people around the world who don’t live like we do. We have had a few more volunteers and are getting ready to split into 3 groups for our Bible study time. We could always use another hand, so if you are interested, please let me know!
On October 11th, we will be hosting a Parents’ Night Out at the Buckroe Pointe Apartments. We are hoping that this will be a great night of outreach in order to encourage our neighbors with the love of Christ. We will need volunteers! The plan is to have games, crafts, and FUN! Buckroe Pointe will be providing pizza and drinks. If you are able to spend a few hours pouring love into these kids, sign up in the foyer or on the church office door.
Love you all so much,
Hello! In case you missed it, I, Jamie Starr, will be heading up the Children’s Ministry at Restoration. I am excited about working with the kids and helping them learn to love Jesus more each day! It is my desire to reach the children of our church and community with the love of God and show them that church is a fun, welcoming place. I’m really just a big kid at heart, and I love to have fun playing crazy games and telling stories in a way kids can understand. Please pray for me as I begin to implement the vision that God is giving me for this ministry.
We will be having a time of information, fellowship, and training on August 6th at 6:30pm. If you are or want to be involved in Children’s Ministry, please attend this meeting! We will serve sub sandwiches and ask everyone to bring a side, chips, or dessert to share.
As we wind down the summer this month, we will be having an End of Summer Splash party at the Starr’s’ house on August 10th from 5- 8pm. This will be a family event, as we MUST have a parent or other responsible adult (18 or over) staying with the children they bring. Be on the lookout for a sign up sheet in the foyer.
Lastly, if you are interested in joining our crew for TeamKID on Wednesday evenings, please let me know. The kids have really been enjoying this time of Bible lessons, games, missions activities, and snacks!
Thank you for allowing me to work with the children here at Restoration! It is a joy and privilege.
Jamie Starr, Children’s Ministry Director
See you Later, Eric, Jenn, Grace, Ben, and Abby. We love you.
Dear Church Family,
What can I say about these last 5 years? I knew this day would come but now that’s it here I find myself putting my heart into the words I would like to say. Before I do that let’s get down to business first!
VBS: I can honestly say I don’t think we have ever had one like this! It was great but almost surreal with the weather and all the little things that satan tried to do to tank us but failed!! When Life Changes God is Good!! And He is, He was so faithful this week in the way everything worked out! We had a total of 59 kids registered with 55 kids who attended, and I think everyone can say they thoroughly loved watching and loving on each of these kids. We reached families through every form of advertising that we sent: social media,
post cards & the door hangers! We had new families come from the neighborhood, from Buckroe Pointe and even from military housing across town which is amazing compared to our previous VBS weeks! We will be following up with these families in the coming weeks and inviting them to TeamKid. We really had a great time interacting with the families this year. A handful of parents stayed during VBS and we really enjoyed getting to know them.
I cannot say thank you enough to everyone who gave their time for VBS volunteering, decorating, praying and donating. It was very much a team effort and we could not have done what we did this year without you!
We will be taking the month of July off for Children’s Church, so watch for dates for it to return in August. TeamKid has had a great start with 15 kids the first two weeks which is a great way to start off!
For those of you who don’t know, Jamie Starr will be filling in as Interim Children’s Ministry Director. I know she will do a wonderful job. She loves the Lord and has a servant’s heart for children so love her like you have loved me and lift her up in prayer with me as she takes on this adventure. Additionally, please give her grace as she is learning; she is not me and that’s ok. She will do things differently, but I know she will be great allowed me the opportunity of a lifetime.
So here we are. As I write this last note to you, words cannot express how much you all mean to me. You have loved me, guided me, loved my children and my husband and allowed me the opportunity of a lifetime. I can honestly say I am not the same person who graced the doors of Restoration Church 5 years ago and that, dear family, is the direct result of the love, grace, friendship and godly teaching this church has provided me with. I know God has great plans for this body and this ministry as you go forward in the coming months and years and I look forward to hearing all about it from you. Thank you, thank you, thank you for allowing me the privilege of leading your children through this ministry. There was so much more I wanted to do but God has not called me to that. We are on to a new adventure that I have always looked forward to but now that it’s here it’s so hard to go and this is a direct reflection of the love you have all provided to me and my family! So as my father in-law always says, I don’t say goodbye because that’s too permanent but see you later. So I will end this letter with see you later because I know I will see you all again!
My deepest love and sincere thanks,
We are ROARING along toward VBS! As we draw closer please continue to be in prayer for the preparation of kids hearts who will be attending, the impact they will have upon their parents, our volunteers who are helping with the preparation and those who are participating in VBS. Pray for the mailers, fliers, our social media blast and the door hangers that they will have the anointing to make the impact as they are intended to bring in the kids and families. We are claiming 100 kids to attend and believe God will bring them in. If you are still are on the fence about volunteering and feel the push to do so please volunteer. You will not regret it. I can find a place for anyone to plug in. We can never have too many people here to love on these kids and show them the face of Christ!! VBS fliers are available on the Children’s Ministry Table next to the Kid Check, please grab a handful & hand them out to your neighbors.TeamKID starts Wednesday June 5th at 6:30 pm. Jamie Starr will be directing it. TeamKID is designed for Kids in Discipleship. It features Bible memory games and application of Bible truths, engaging missions videos and activities, and fun activity-based learning all while helping your kids grow to be more like Jesus. If you know of anyone that would enjoy attending additional fliers are available on the Children’s Ministry table next to the Kid Check. It’s going to be a fun crazy next 5 weeks! As always, I cherish you all and feel greatly blessed to serve the children of this church and their families! In Christ’s love,
It’s May, it’s May, Its May…..that means we are trucking along towards June which means its almost VBS!!! Roar VBS is June 17th-21st. If you haven’t signed up to volunteer or need help figuring out where we need people to plug in please let me or Jamie Starr know and we will get you plugged in! We will be in need of people to help make decorations and structures for the sets. I also want to remind you that Pastor Mike will shave his head if we hit 100 kids and I plan to holding him to it so I need all of your help to advertise, invite and hand out door hangers as we get closer!! Pre-registration will be open May 17th on the website. All registration will be online this year for children and workers!
I want to take a moment to say thank you to all of you who prayed, stuffed eggs, donated eggs, donated candy, helped at Big Day or supported it in anyway shape or form! It was a great day and none of it would have been possible without your help so again from the bottom of my heart Thank You!!
Happy Spring & April and what will be officially the beginning of 3 busy months. I am excited to announce a new endeavor for us in the Children’s Ministry. This Sunday April 7th, during Sunday School, we will be starting the first week of an 8 week new Believers Class for our Children with Cindy Smith facilitating & myself assisting. We are inviting all of our kids whether a new believer recently or a few years ago to attend. This course will be a great reinforcement of our need for Salvation & discipleship for growth in their faith. I highly encourage all parents to bring their kids to attend this class; I am so excited to witness the spiritual growth as a result of this class! Our Big Day is fast approaching on Easter Sunday and the sign up lists are posted in the office hallway. For the children’s ministry we will need help especially in both nurseries. If this is an area you don’t normally serve but would just like to give an extra hand on special days like this please contact Teresa Brooks or myself. I would really like to have at least 3 people in each nursery. Additionally we need help setting up fields & at least 2 attendants for each of the bounce houses.VBS may seem like a long time off but we are less than 3 months away!! I just attended the Fun Shop training and I am super excited for this year! The sign ups are in the back corner of the sanctuary so if I haven’t spoke with you about volunteering yet or you have not signed up…just wait I WILL! We are in need of all Crew Leaders & helpers for some of the stations that are still open. Also supply donations lists will be out soon and the dates for VBS training in May will be announced soon. Jamie Starr will be Assistant Director this year and she will also conduct training. Just a reminder, if we get to 100 kids this year Pastor Mike WILL SHAVE HIS HEAD!! Just food &
encouragement for thought!! We will be doing a big media push as well as mailers & door hangers to advertise for it… June 17 – 21st are the dates!I pray your Easter & spring are greatly blessed and thank God for the privilege of serving your children & families these last 4 years! In His Love,
Happy March and dare I say Spring! This week we begin a new unit moving through the book of Numbers. Joshua & Caleb were the only spies that came out of the Land of Canaan trusting God to give them the Promised Land. Making the connection that Jesus trusted God perfectly. He took the punishment we deserve for our sin, or rebellion against God. When we trust in Jesus, God forgives our sin and gives us eternal life.
The kids and the workers seem to really enjoy our new curriculum and the helpers are working out well. I will be having a Park Patrol Orientation for any kids grade 5th through 8th on Sunday March 10th during Sunday School for any kids who want to help in Children’s Church. I will be going over the various activities they will be helping or performing. I really need everyone there if they plan to participate as I will also be setting up a schedule.

FebruaryHappy February! We are moving along in the Children’s Ministry working our way through Exodus and the Israelite’s trek into the wilderness.Children’s Church is back and we are starting a new curriculum call Noah’s Park Children’s Church: Adventure Trails That Lead to Jesus. This is a little bit of a different curriculum. It has several options of things it can incorporate into the lessons that we haven’t done in the past like puppets. We will also be occasionally including the 5th & 6th graders as helpers and possibly 7th & 8th graders if any are interested. These helpers will be called Park Patrol. This is a unique way for them to learn more about God and minister to the younger kids. More information and training will come as we become more acquainted with this curriculum.Announcements:

September Kids Corner
Happy Almost Fall and for you parents, Happy Back to School!! With the school year gearing up for some already and the rest starting next week the anticipation of being back on a schedule from the summer is bittersweet for some and happy for others. For my family it was a busy summer that seemed to make the summer go faster but we have been blessed by the time we have been home with kids just the same! As always we are gearing up for a busy fall, the biggest of which will be Trunk or Treat on Halloween, which is Wednesday,
October 31st. As we get into September we will start accepting candy donations.
I have to say this has been I think out best year yet for VBS! I thoroughly enjoyed this year, the format, the curriculum and most of all the kids, our kids and all the new kids that we had the privilege of ministering to! Most of all it could not have been accomplished with out all of you! I sincerely thank you and feel greatly blessed for each and every one of you for your willingness to serve in this incredible ministry. I am so blessed by your faithfulness in whatever capacity you have given whether through praying, donating, teaching or
just being supportive, thank you!!!
The best news of all from VBS is that we had 3 kids accept Jesus as their Savior; two on Thursday night and one the Sunday morning after VBS. All three had attended VBS the whole week. We are so excited to see God at work in these kids and the great things He is going to do with them.
Coming up in Sunday school we are back to where we started and begin Genesis 1 this Sunday!
Children’s Church will remain on hiatus until the end of September as we give our volunteers a bit more of a break and I continue to recuperate from ankle surgery.
From the book Words Kids Need to Hear by David Staal the author discusses how words really do matter when we speak to our kids. Whether we are a parent or a church leader words matter. Here are 7 phrases all kids need to hear whether you are a parent or an adult in a child’s life:
1. I Believe in You- they need to hear someone believes in them- catch them doing something good
2. You Can Count On Me- count on you to notice what they do that’s worth noticing, count on you to support, understand, care and be present
3. I Treasure You
4. I’m Sorry Please Forgive Me- Kids will authentically apologize if they experience it
6. No- Kids need to hear the word No! to the things Satan throws at them
7. I Love You- Say it, demonstrate it through action! Boys and Girls need to know we love them and give them the opportunity to express it!
As always I am blessed to serve your children and family.
In Christ’s Love,
August Kids Corner
It’s Time! It’s Time!! It’s Time!!! Do you know what time it is??? It’s August so IT’S TIME FOR VBS!!! Can you feel the anticipation, the Holy Spirit working? God is going to do a great work in all of us this year, in the kids & families that He brings to us as well as all of you, so we need to claim it! Are you praying for the kids, for the parents and for the staff?
We are still in need of some supplies so it’s not too late to donate or lend something. Please check the table if you haven’t done so already and if at all possible have it to the church by August 5th so we can do all of our decorating and set up the week before! If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me! If you are volunteering or need to register a child please do so on the link located on the church website, www.rcpb.net . I only have 23 of the almost 60 volunteers registered so if you could do that, it would be one less thing I need to do before VBS week as well as designate the tribe names to the tribe leaders sooner rather than later!
Tribe Leaders and Marketplace “Vendors” Please begin reviewing your part and let me know if you need anything or have any issues! I am excited to see each of the kids faces and how they will react to everything they are going to experience during VBS week, but most of all to see how God is going to touch each of their lives!
Our Mission Designation this year will be Tyler Elementary. The tree will be up in the back of the sanctuary again for donations towards the school supplies but also we will be sending flyers home with the kids requesting school supplies for donation.
In Sunday School we are beginning the final unit of our trek through the New Testament. We will be studying Revelation throughout the month as starting back at the beginning in Genesis One in September. Additionally, Children’s Church will be back from its short hiatus in September. We are always in need of faithful adults to lead our children throughout the Children’s Ministry. If God is leading you please come join our team! You will not regret it!
As always I am blessed to be entrusted with your children each week and greatly appreciative of the commitment from my Sunday School team!
In Christ’s Love,
June Kids Corner
Happy June! Could it be? Summer is here!!! Happy Summer to those who are already out of school and
for the rest just a couple more weeks!!
Tip of the month: Be intentional. Remind your kids of bible truths while you or they brush their teeth
In Sunday School we just finished up our spring curriculum with the Heroes of Faith. The Bible gives examples of people who had faith, but the true hero of the Bible is Jesus. Jesus looked forward to the joy that would come because of the cross. Because of Jesus, the things the faithful people in the Bible looked forward to will come true. We know that Jesus will come back one day because God always keeps His promises. Coming up this summer we will continue our journey from Genesis to Revelation working our way through the last remaining books and ending in Revelation in early fall.
In Children’s Church we are continuing to work our way through the Fruits of the Spirit learning last week about Faithfulness, what it means to be a faithful friend and how they can trust one another as well as ways they can show the fruit of the Spirit quality of faithfulness.
As always I am blessed to serve your children and your families.
In Christ’s Love,

Happy Almost Beginning of Summer! We are quickly barreling towards summer and might I say
warmer weather to stay! In the Children’s Department we are closing in on the last four weeks of

learning about the Fruit of the Spirit. Following that we will do the Armor of God, A Cheerful
Giver and finishing out the unit with the Heroes of Faith from Hebrews 11.
In Children’s Church we are moving into our third Fruit of the Spirit this week learning about
VBS will be August 13-17. Be on the look out in the coming days for volunteer opportunities, donation needs as well as other ways you can get involved. This VBS will be a bit different this year. While it is still the similar rotation we have done in the past this VBS will take place in the market place setting of Babylon. I am very excited to see this come together and for the kids to experience it!
Coming up this month:
May 12 All Church Family Movie Night
May 13 Mothers Day

May 28 Memorial Day-church office closed A new feature I will be including each month are different ideas/activities you can utilize to connect with your kids.

As always I am greatly blessed to serve your children and you!
